Rainbow Village CC

Rainbow Village CC is a state of the art school of the arts.  The main attraction at this college is a storytelling theater where the main function is to train up a child with a foundation of truth and righteousness.  We have a unique way of telling stories, using as a foundation, the "Story of Creation."

Our mission is to empower our young people with the tools they need to grow academically and spiritually, that they would know who they are, what their purpose is here on earth, what The Creator requires of them, and how to fulfill their purpose. We provide opportunities for young people of all ages and backgrounds to learn the language, culture, and history of Afrika. In particular, we encourage children of Afrikan descent to draw strength and pride from their Afrikan heritage, as they grow into confident and engaged adults in the global community. 

It is our goal to implement right knowledge, that children of all nationalities will be trained, and in turn go forth, being a positive example, and living a righteous life.

Storytelling/reading is not the only avenue that is used, we also conduct workshops that are designed to build oratory, reading and writing skills.  The young participants are taken through the steps of publishing their written work, accomplishing the completion of a self published book, and then shown how to promote it themselves.

We hope that you will not only allow us to share with your child our unique style of storytelling but our gifts as well.  We conduct simulated exercises for our young people to participate in, developing life skills that will help their developmental growth.  We have theatrical programs that will allow your child to be creative in who they are, which will also build confidence and self-esteem. 

We believe we gain power through knowledge, which is the power given to us by the Creator, who controls our destiny, which has already preordained.  Willful ignorance is surrendering control.  There is only One, to whom we should surrender!

The Teacher                        

Dr. Joy Harris-Johnson is recognized as an Author, Publisher, and renowned Children's Storyteller.  She has made teaching and motivating young people her life's work.  Dr. Johnson received a Doctoral Degree in Pedagogy from the Bible Baptist College in Jacksonville, NC. 

 Dr. Johnson is very passionate when it comes to the education of children.  She has developed a creative way of teaching, by way of the performing arts, that makes learning fun for the student while at the same time excelling academically.  She received a NYS Teacher's License from Rochester NY where she worked for The City School District, teaching pre-k through sixth grade-specializing in Early Childhood Development.  Dr. Johnson founded Rainbow Village Children's College LLC. in 2001 with a vision of establishing a safe, loving, and caring environment for young people, where they would be allowed to flourish academically, mentally, emotionally, physically, socially, spiritually and culturally.  Dr. Johnson sees a "Scholar" in each and every one of her students.

Dr. Johnson has also started a foundation called "Michael's Rose".  This is a Charity that focuses on the needs of children who are victims of child abuse and dealing with mental depression.  This Charity gives out hundreds of under garments each year to school aged children.  This "gift from the heart" is done in memory of Dr. Johnson's mother, Rose Marie Harris, who often purchased under garments and distributed them out to children in the neighborhood at the beginning of every school year.
